Amblet is a walking game. It has no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code of any kind. Everything below is a description of what the app actually does on your phone.
The short version. Your steps are read from Apple Health and never leave your device except as totals inside your own iCloud backup. Your island is stored in your private iCloud account, which we cannot read. The only thing anyone else can see is the handle you chose and a few public counts beside it. We collect nothing, because there is nowhere for us to collect it to.
With your permission, Amblet reads your daily step count from Apple Health. It is read only — the app never writes to Health, and never asks for anything else stored there.
Steps are used to work out how many eggs and treats your walking has turned up, and to keep a lifetime total shown on your profile. They are not transmitted to us or to anyone else. Derived totals are included in your iCloud save, described below. You can withdraw this permission at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health.
Your farm — the Amblets you own, eggs, treats, the state of the island, your level, your chosen handle and mark, and your lifetime step total — is saved to the private CloudKit database of your own iCloud account. This is what lets your island survive a reinstall or move to a new phone.
This data belongs to your Apple Account. The developer of Amblet has no access to it and no way to read it. Apple's handling of it is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
If you choose a handle, a small record is written to the public CloudKit database so that a handle is unique and so other players can look you up. That record contains:
This is the only information in Amblet that other people can see. It contains no steps, no location, no name and no contact details. Deleting your account removes it.
Signing in is optional and the game is complete without it. If you do sign in, Amblet requests no scopes at all — not your name, not your email address. It receives only the anonymous identifier Apple generates for this app, which is stored in your device Keychain and used solely to prove a handle is yours.
The dex can stand an Amblet in the room in front of you using the camera. The camera feed is processed live on your device and is never recorded, stored or transmitted. If you take a photo, it stays on your device; it is written to your camera roll only if you choose to, using add-only permission — Amblet cannot read your photo library.
Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server and no device token. Amblet will tell you about eggs and treats your walking turned up, an Amblet getting hungry, and your arena team waking. You can turn them off in the app or in Settings.
Amblet is a subscription. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. The app never sees your payment details, and no purchase information is sent anywhere by us — whether you are subscribed is read from the App Store on your device each time it is needed.
In the app: tap your mark, then the settings glyph, then delete everything. This removes the data on your device, your island in private iCloud, and your public handle record. It cannot be undone. Deleting the app alone does not remove the iCloud copy, which is deliberate — it is what makes a reinstall not a reset.
Amblet is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
